Lunchtime Menu

Lunch time menu

All the menus are created and assessed by Kirklees School Meal Service. The options have been approved to provide healthy food options.  There is always a meat / fish dish available and a vegetarian dish.

Vegetables are on offer every day and chopped salad (carrots / tomatoes / cucumber) are available for the children to self select.

Desserts are chosen on the day as they vary; chopped fruit, yoghurt, homemade biscuits/buns are on offer everyday. In addition to this there is also other options, for example vegetarian jelly, sponge cake, jam squares, flapjack, iced fingers, arctic roll, cheese and biscuits, cream scone or a hot pudding (e.g. rice pudding, fruit crumble, treacle sponge, with or without custard). Unlimited fresh water is available on the tables.

The lunch time staff will encourage children to eat / try something new. No one is ever force fed. Lunch time staff will inform teachers if a child refuses to eat / eats very little on a regular basis.

Class teachers may encourage children to choose a variety of options at the time of booking the lunch, (for F2 when putting their name in the box on arrival), however the system does rely on parent / carer encouragement more than anything. Once a selection has been booked, this can not be changed. We have on many occasions had heart broken children who refuse to eat anything, if the selection has been made for them without them involved.

If you have any more questions, please ask a member of the Early Years team or contact the school office.
