Summer term week 3 (4th -8th May)

Well done those of you that completed the ratio work last week.

This week we are switching to an old favourite - algebra! This week is a pure revision week but it will give you the opportunity to revisit the foundations of a very important area of maths in preparation for high school. The materials we are using this week are all new though so I hope you enjoy them. I look forward to seeing your work!

Monday 4th

We are starting by looking at single step and multi step rules. If you are more confident start with the multi step rule work but if you would like to build your confidence start with the single step first.

Tuesday 5th May

Today, we are going to be thinking about writing what we see as algebraic expressions by substituting objects and numbers with letters. There are 2 lots of work

Wednesday 6th May

We are going to be writing formula today. We will be looking at problems and thinking about all the expression and substitution we have done yesterday to help us.

Thursday 7th May

Today we are going to be forming equations from pictorial representations.

Friday 8th May

Today is the anniversary of VE Day (Victory in Europe) so I thought we could do some maths relating to the war.  During the war the government had to send messages in code so that if the enemy got hold of them, could not understand them. To do this activity you have to look at the series of dots and dashes and then use the MORSE code alphabet to decipher each one.
