We are now in the seventh week since starting the new school year. Those hazy, lazy days of summer have been replaced by meetings, targets and endless cups of coffee!
This week we will be saying goodbye to Mrs Hill who has secured a post at Battyeford Primary on a full time basis. It is always sad to see an established member of staff leave, but we wish her the very best of luck in her new job. Adverts have been placed for her positions.
Last week we entered 4 teams and 2 individual runners into the Kirklees Cross country Finals. These children performed well in the Mirfield competition and were representing the Mirfield Pyramid. All of the children performed really well against the other winning schools in Kirklees. I have just received the results and 2 of our teams will now go onto the West Yorkshire Finals, representing Kirklees. This is the fourth year we have progressed this far. A fantastic effort!
As you know it is Parents' Evening this week and I will be operating a cafe service in the entrance area. This will be a donation based cafe with all of the profit being put into school funds for the children. Sadly, our financial position is extremely difficult and so all donations will be gladly received. Whilst the government may spin/be economical with the truth (take your pick), with their comments about funding for education, I can be very honest in saying that we are absolutely underfunded, and that each year is more difficult than the last.
I will soon be sending out the Christmas Concert dates for this year.
